Neil Saxby

Principal Owner

Neil has 18 years of experience developing high quality affordable housing. During this time Neil has developed 25+ affordable housing communities throughout Northern California including both new construction and acquisition rehab.  Prior to starting RENEW URBAN Development Consulting, Neil was Director of Development NorCal for BRIDGE Housing. Prior roles include Associate Director of Development at Eden Housing, and Senior Project Manager for Satellite Affordable Housing Associates.

Neil has a Master's in Urban Planning from the University of Cape Town, and an MBA (finance focus) from the University of California, Davis.  

Before moving to the US in 2005, Neil worked as an economic development consultant in Johannesburg, South Africa where he advised public sector clients on the economic impact of large public sector projects, and real estate developer clients on market demand and financial feasibility.  

Neil formed RENEW URBAN Development Consulting with four primary practice areas in mind:

- Project management support to short-staffed nonprofit and for-profit affordable housing developers, 

- Technical assistance to market rate developers unfamiliar how to structure a feasible affordable housing project to meet inclusionary obligations and/or leverage CA State Density Bonus law,

- Technical assistance to organizations with affordable housing development aspirations,

- California Prevailing Wage and Federal Davis Bacon labor standards compliance and wage monitoring services.
